Landscape Photography

In photography, there are many different formats that can be used.  Some of these formats are meant to educate and inform, while others are designed to entertain.  With landscape photography, the photos are meant to capture the essence of beauty found in the natural world around us.  This can include things like waterfalls, mountain ranges, hills, lakes and rivers and even fields.  Many travel agencies and tourist bureaus use landscape photography to show potential visitors how beautiful their area is.  This is a great tool for enticing people to come to a particular place.  It is also a wonderful piece of art to hang in someone’s home, as landscape view enrich the beauty of our surroundings.

While most photography often focuses on technical skill or subject, landscape photography really focuses on the actual scope and view that it captures.  In other words, the natural beauty of an area stands out more than the technical merit of the photo itself.

For those who enjoy landscape photography, there is term often used called the golden hour.  This term refers to a specific time during the day when the sun is midway in the sky and produces a golden hue on everything surrounding it.  Many photographers like this time of day because it creates the perfect combination of light and shadow, and emphasizes certain parts of a landscape.  For a bigger picture of a full landscape, many photographers like to use wide angle lenses in order to capture a bigger area in one photo.  These lenses can grasp a wider view than a traditional lens, giving the picture an aura of larger size and scope.  Many landscape photos today are taken with digital cameras, although some photographers still prefer to use the traditional camera and developing method.  Even an amateur can benefit from taking pictures of the landscape, as the natural world around us almost always ensures a beautiful photograph every single time.
